Hand in Hand

Tracye Westerfield
My dear friend Tracye Westerfield wrote this song. Tracye performed in a band with me 15 years ago. She graciously gave me her blessing to rearrange it and record it. I turned it into a duet with the very talented Molly Troutman. The result is a beautiful song. Enjoy!

I dreamed of a house in the country
The fireflies sparkle and glow in your eyes
There’d be a front porch swing, a sturdy old oak tree
And we’d stare at the stars in the night
Dreamin’ is for dreamers, lovin’ is for lovers
And I don’t know where we fit in
I searched for a lifetime, hoping that I’d find
Someone who would walk hand in hand
I painted a picture of blue skies, lullabies
Whispering by in the wind
Friendship and laughter, happy ever after
A love that would last ‘till the end
CHORUS
The road we have travelled is rocky and graveled
It could wear out the thickest of treads
Like sand in a rough tide, no matter how we tried
We’d end up in pieces instead
