I’ve been a lot of places

And I’ve seen a lot of things

I’ve been here just a short time

And I’ve chased a lot of dreams

 

I’ve felt crispy air in the mountains

Humphrey’s Peak called out to me

I’ve kayaked Wild & Scenic rivers

I watched a bald eagle follow me

I’ve touched the Pacific in California

I’ve swam the Gulf and the Atlantic too

I traveled South to make friends down in Mexico

And did anything I wanted to do

 

I’ve built sand castles on beaches

And hiked back and forth across mountain streams

I stared in awe at that great big hole out west

And tried to figure what it all really means

I’ve smelled the sweet hills in Kentucky

Went fishin’ in the creek with my T,

Walked across natural bridges

And tried to see things I couldn’t see

 

I tried to love couldn’t

Didn’t have enough to give

I did the things I thought I should

Guess I was learning how to live

I’ve worn rags and a custom suits

Had long hair and short hair too

I’ve shackled my soul for money

And finally starting searching for my truth

 

I’ve been a lot of places

And I’ve seen a lot of things

I’ve been here just a short time

and I keep chasing my dreams

I’ve been here a short time

I’ve tasted extremes

I keep on living

And chasing my dreams
